Did You know so many people transition from one month to the other without knowing anything about how the previous month went? They go on with their lives without any knowledge of how they have performed so far. Isn’t that amazing?
What is more amazing is..most people also go into a new month without ANY idea of what they want to create in the new month. We’ll talk about this on the 1st of June but today I want to talk about measuring your progress.
Measuring your progress is so important. It’s one of the best things you can ever do for yourself. Yet, so few of us sit down to realistically measure how we are doing.
I think one of the reasons this happens is because we’re scared of finding out that we’re underperformed, we’re scared of realizing that we haven’t met our goals (whether conscious or unconscious - everybody walks around with goals..conscious is when we are aware and focus our energies to get the goals and unconscious is when we sort of feel like we want to do something but it’s very passive) . I think that’s a valid reason but it is based off the assumptions that we can’t meet our goals.
Think about it, if you truly believe that you WILL achieve your goals, wouldn’t you want to know how you’re doing?
You’ve got to measure your goals and hold yourself accountable if you really want to achieve your goals and BELIEVE in your goals.
At the end of every month, sit down for an hour and look at all your goals..How did you do?
I usually rank myself..give myself a per cent score. It maybe 80%, 90% or sometimes it maybe less than 50%. What’s more important than the number is the habit of looking at where you are and keeping yourself accountable.
And honestly, there’s times where I give a 100% of myself and yet there are months where I’m running low on either my passion or focus and the beauty of it is…I can SEE the results at the end of the month.
As you move towards your goal, you will grow a lot and try out various strategies, I find this end of the month review a good indication of what’s working..what’s not working AND what I need to do.
Start reviewing your months (and weeks and even days = I usually review myself every second day), hold yourself accountable and make things happen!
