Overview
Pooch To 5K is run by Audrey Harvey who owns a veterinarian clinic and a dog training center in Melbourne, Australia. She wanted to start a new dog diet and fitness business but found herself strapped for time and unable to focus her resources efficiently. Her main struggle was finding time to:
- Grow her current business
- Establish a new business
- Find time for her children
The Challenge
Audrey was already spread too thin with two businesses and a family to run. She was full of ideas and creativity but found her businesses suffering because she could not turn her ideas into results. We needed to focus on establishing her existing business while helping her start a new business.
Our Approach
In our first meeting with Audrey, we assessed her personal needs as an entrepreneur to understand:
- Her motivational triggers
- Her stressors
- Preferred working style
- Business vision and goals
We then conducted a preliminary market research to build a SWOT profile for her businesses. Based on the needs assessment and her SWOT profile, we were able to determine how to help her stand out in the market and how to find the activities that she can focus time on.
The first training package we built was to help her reduce stress and turn creativity into profits.
The initial package we built focused on:
- Creativity Management
- Planning
- Productivity Management
- The focus of the training then shifted on managing priorities and creating a time management
- system for her team to maximize productivity.
The Results
The most important benefit I got from working with ABT was the SWOT analysis that ABT conducted at the start of the project. With this, the training not only focused on getting more things done but on getting the most profitable things done. This has given us the confidence that everyday we are making the right choices to grow the business in the projects and tasks that we choose to prioritise.
